James is a Portfolio Manager in the Global Rates team. James joined Columbia Threadneedle through the acquisition of BMO GAM (EMEA) in 2021, having previously been with BMO since 2014, managing absolute return, active and passive mandates across a broad range of strategies. Prior to joining the group, James worked for 6 years at the Bank of England within the Reserves Management team, including roles as the Trading Manager, Senior Portfolio Manager and Head of the Issuance team. During this time he implemented absolute return positions across a range of macroeconomic and relative value strategies, utilising a comprehensive range of interest rate instruments within liquid currencies. Strategies included duration, yield curve, asset swap, cross market, relative value and basis swaps. He has an economics degree from the University of Bath.
